rain

the calendar says it is nearly July, but you'd never know it by looking outside.  it's been raining all day. in june. in California. I wish I could say that it is a welcome break from the heat, but we just haven't had enough of it to be tired of it yet. rain, on the other hand....

Just when I started to think that my commute was the bain of my existence, I looked out the window and realized how lucky I am to live and work in this city.

This morning e. and I picked berries (marion, black and boysen).   It was prickly and hot and we came home with stained fingers and little green boxes filled with fresh berries.  We made a pie.  It feels like summer.

Ira Glass accompanied me on my errands this evening. (Not literally, of course).

Summer weather has finally arrived and with it the quest for shade and lazy afternoons spent just sitting.

A difficult week ended with Tasty Dog (can't you just taste the celery salt!?!) and practicing on a two-wheeler.

if last week was all about baseball, this week was all about the new "do" and the end of 6th grade - such bravery and self-awareness!  I am one lucky mom.
